Dear Brethren,
By the hand of God Almighty—the God of Israel—the United States of America, on July 4, 1776, was born with these words: “The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America….” Thus began the separation of the 13 colonies from the Crown of Britain and the British Empire. After much debate, discussion, and prayer, the Founders declared: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” (The Declaration of Independence, Action of the Second Continental Congress, July 4, 1776).
In addition to the above declaration and the following war for independence, central to the development of the nation was the “Bill of Rights”—the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution. The First Amendment is of paramount importance! No other nation has such a profound constitutional law as this: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The original motive behind the First Amendment predates the framing of the Constitution (September 17, 1787) or the Bill of Rights with the Ten Amendments (September 25, 1789). In fact, its roots extended back to the fundamental reason the Pilgrims and early immigrants left Britain to come to America in the 1600s. They were driven out because of persecution by the Crown of England and the state religion—the Church of England. Those who left Britain had a deep desire to live by the Word of God, which was becoming impossible because of a lack of freedom of speech and assembly—especially for Sabbath-keepers! They first fled to Holland, then to America.
Today, the First Amendment makes it possible to preach the Gospel in powerful ways from the United States. The true Gospel could never be preached from Britain because of the Crown and the Church of England. In America, different churches, including the churches of God, preach varying degrees of the truth. But one thing is clear: preaching the true Gospel to the world is not being done in any meaningful way from any other nation!
As you will see in the book by Philip Neal, our editor, America & Britain—Their Biblical Origin and Prophetic Destiny, the founding of the United States was not due to the actions of mere men, it was accomplished by the very hand of God in order to fulfill specific promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—then to the sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:11-20; 49:22-26; Deut. 33:13-17).
From the wording of the Constitution, it is evident that the framers were well grounded in the Bible, as well as astute students of history. While avoiding establishing a “state religion,” they gave appropriate honor to God as Creator and the ultimate source of all blessings. They often referred to God using the term Providence. The framers wisely incorporated sound biblical principles in writing the founding documents for America and its government. Likewise, nearly every state constitution of the Union makes direct reference to “Almighty God” as the one granting the unparalleled blessings of this land and the right of governance we enjoy.
God said to Moses, “I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty…” (Ex. 6:3). We can see that it is no coincidence that their modern-day descendants, having the Bible, would use this same terminology in acknowledging Him.
Not many people today want to admit it (especially the political progressives, atheists, and those of other religions among us), but it is a fact that our Founders opened every session of their discussions and deliberations—including the writing of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution—with prayer to Almighty God. They felt the hand of God. Notice the following statements of several of the signatories of the Constitution, who acknowledged the hand of God, the finger of Providence, Divine interposition, a beneficent Ruler, and the gift of Heaven:
To the constitutional delegates, George Washington gave this foundational statement: “If to please the people we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterwards defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God….
“[The adoption of the Constitution] will demonstrate as visibly the finger of Providence as any possible event in the course of human affairs can ever designate it.”—George Washington
“I regard it [the Constitution] as the work of the purest patriots and wisest statesman that ever existed, aided by the smiles of a benignant [gracious] Providence…. [It] almost appears a Divine interposition in our behalf.”—Daniel Webster
“I have so much faith in the general government of the world by Providence that I can hardly conceive [that] a transaction of such momentous importance [as the framing of the Constitution] … should be suffered [allowed] to pass without being in some degree influenced, guided, and governed by that … beneficent Ruler in whom all inferior spirits live and move and have their being.”—Benjamin Franklin
While the Founders acknowledged God’s hand in the founding of this nation, they also realized, as the Bible shows us, that when the people themselves become corrupt, they will eventually abandon their Constitution, exactly as is happening today. Thus, they warned:
“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”—Benjamin Franklin
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”—John Adams
“The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy the gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. While on the other hand, if we are universally vicious and debauched in our manners, though the form of our Constitution carries the face of the most exalted freedom, we shall in reality be most abject slaves.”—Samuel Adams
These selected quotes reflect the Founders’ awareness of the “blessings and curses” that God gave to ancient Israel in Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26. When we understand the Word of God, we realize that the covenant promises made between God and Israel, beginning with the Ten Commandments, were actually a “Constitution.” Notice God’s proposal to the people at Mount Sinai: “ ‘Now therefore, if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.’ And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him. And all the people answered together and said, ‘All that the Lord has spoken we will do.’ And Moses returned the words of the people to the Lord” (Ex. 19:5-8).
After Israel accepted the condition to obey His voice, God then personally spoke the Ten Commandments—the foundation for His special covenant with the people of Israel. Next, He gave Moses the laws, statutes, ordinances, and judgments—the details of the covenant, as found in chapters 21 through 23. Then Moses gave the complete proposal to all the children of Israel: “And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, ‘All the words which the Lord has said, we will do.’ And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar at the base of the mountain and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men of the children of Israel who offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of bullocks to the Lord. And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the ears of the people. And they said, ‘All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.’ And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, ‘Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words’ ” (Ex. 24:3-8).
Thus, the covenant was ratified. We find in the book of Deuteronomy another vital requirement to complete Israel’s covenant with God: “Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments which the Lord our God commanded to teach you so that you might do them in the land where you go to possess it, that you might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life, and so that your days may be prolonged.
“Hear therefore, O Israel, and be diligent to observe it, so that it may be well with you, and that you may greatly multiply, as the Lord God of our fathers has promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel. Our one God is the Lord, the Lord. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart” (Deut. 6:1-6).
Thus, the foundation for the covenant/constitution for the nation of Israel was the love of God and the Law of God. It contained laws regulating religion/worship and civil laws—the administration and enforcement of law, including the execution of penalties (with death for capital crimes). The biblical history of Israel, and later Judah, shows that the people repeatedly failed to obey God and adhere to their constitution, their covenant between them and God.
Today, we see the same thing in America (as well as in many other nations). We do not keep the covenant/Constitution of the United States. In spite of having more Bibles than any other country in the world, the government and the majority of people have turned their backs to God—and disobey Him with impunity by indulging in wicked lifestyles.
While we are rejecting God along with His laws and commandments, atheism, witchcraft, and non-Christian religions are rapidly growing—and becoming increasingly militant against Christians of any persuasion. Our nation is repeating the same sins as our ancient forefathers. Notice: “And the Lord testified against Israel and against Judah, by all the prophets, by all the seers, saying, ‘Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.’
“Nevertheless, they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like the neck of their fathers who did not believe in the Lord their God. And they rejected His statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers, and His warnings that He testified against them. And they went after vanity, and became vain, and went after the nations around them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them not to do like them” (II Kings 17:13-15).
The prophet Hosea also warned Israel that God’s impending judgments were already coming upon them for rejecting Him: “Hear the Word of the Lord, children of Israel, for the Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, ‘There is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and the committing of adultery they break out; and blood touches blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and everyone who dwells in it shall languish, with the beasts of the field and with the birds of the heavens. Yes, the fish of the sea shall also be taken away…. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being as a priest to Me. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children’ ” (Hosea 4:1-3, 6).
Today, our mammoth sins are rising up before God. And just as ancient Israel suffered the judgments of God for failing to love and obey Him, we as their descendants are likewise suffering the judgments of God. God said that the blessings and the curses He gave to Israel would follow them in every generation from the time of the giving of the Law until the end.
A Summary of the Blessings: “And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord your God to observe and to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you will obey the voice of the Lord your God” (Deut. 28:1-2). The blessings are then listed in verses 3-14.
A Summary of the Curses: “And all these curses shall come on you, and shall pursue you and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. And they shall be on you for a sign and for a wonder, and on your seed forever. Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart for the abundance of all things” (Deut. 28:45-47). All the curses are enumerated in verses 15-68.
Yet, the New Covenant/Christian Constitution based on the promise of eternal life is so much greater! Indeed, it is vastly superior to the one God gave to Israel. Of this Paul writes in Hebrews: “He [Jesus as our High Priest] has obtained a supremely more excellent ministry, as much greater as the superior covenant of which He is also Mediator, which was established upon superior promises” (Heb. 8:6). (There is not enough room in this letter to write a summary of the New Covenant, so we will save that for the future.)
Three Hard Workers: Working in the Hollister office are three women who make serving the brethren organized and efficient. They are: 1) Kimberly, who has worked for the CBCG for 18 years. When she first started her son Noah was born, and this year he has graduated from high school. She takes care of incoming phone calls, mail, e-mails, and PayPal donations. She also processes requests for books, Bibles, and literature—as well as packaging nearly everything that gets mailed out. She also takes all the mail to the Post Office and handles incoming and outgoing UPS packages.
2) Terri has been working for the Church for over 15 years. She processes all incoming mail and tithes and offerings—and deposits the funds into the CBCG bank account. She also takes care of all the books and Bibles in storage—and we have a lot of books and Bibles. Every day she brings books and Bibles from storage to the office, where she helps package the books for mailing out to the brethren.
3) Bonnie has worked for the CBCG for 12 years. She does all the computer editing of the recorded messages for CD and DVD production. In addition, she duplicates the weekly CD/DVD messages and packages them for mailing. She worked with me directly in producing the audio recordings (readings) of the entire Bible, plus all the other books. As I was doing the reading, she would follow along; when I made an error, she would shout out “error” or “edit.” Then I would reread that particular section again. The most fun and difficult Bible passages were the long genealogies in the Old Testament.
These are diligent, hardworking gals who make everything at the office run smoothly.
Stay Close to God: There is no question that we are facing difficult times on many fronts. All of us need to stay close to God in prayer and study, claiming the promises of His protection in Psalm 91. We must continue to feed the flock of God, the brethren of Jesus Christ, with the truth of the Word of God—so that we may all be strengthened through God’s Holy Spirit.
And we must keep preaching the Gospel to the world. This we are doing with an ever-increasing presence through our Bibles, our books and publications, and especially through our websites. God is continuing to give us substantial increases in the number of people who use our sites. Here are the key statistics for the first six months of the year:
1,452,619 distinct visits (that’s almost 1.5 million visits!)
13:13 minutes average visit time (an excellent time for any website!)
5,362,635 total pages viewed (that’s pushing 5.5 million pages!)
5,829.93 gigabytes of data downloaded (that’s almost 6 thousand GB!)
These stats show that we are reaching people who are deeply interested, as well as the many brethren who regularly use our websites. God is still calling new people—and we are reaching many brethren who are wanting to return to God! Of course, all of this is made possible as God opens the doors. We have enclosed a number of e-mails, letters, and comments to show you how the lives of many people are being impacted.
Brethren, we thank you for the tithes and offerings that you faithfully give. As you can see from this letter, we use all of God’s tithes and offerings for feeding His flock and for preaching the Gospel to the world. Thank you for your prayers for us; we are praying for you every day—for God’s blessings and healings. Remember: Stand in grace, Walk in faith, Believe in hope, and Live in love.

Hello Fred: We are catching up on the “Last Ten Days of Jesus’ Life” and you said it spot on! The other church groups preach at you and there is very little teaching. We had CBCG Feast messages at our condo in Orange Beach, AL, last year and we went to a few services with COGWA. My husband and I walked out on one of the services because it was so bad. I felt I was wasting my time. There was no teaching, only preaching—none of which covered the millennium or tabernacles. The head honchos were there and even they used very little scripture, and mainly used storytelling. It reminded me of speaking “smooth things.” The president, Jim Franks, spoke 30 minutes or more about Schindler’s List. I was shifting in my chair with disappointment, waiting to open the Bible. No teaching—that’s what I walked away with. I don’t like to be preached at; I am more engaged when the sermon is more like a conversation with a lot of scripture. The CBCG has a plethora of biblical teachings. The “Grace Series” is the one that grabbed me 7 years ago. I usually write to request something, but this email is just a howdy. Hi Fred: There are times when I am reading God’s Word and I experience a profound sense of understanding. Then I stand in awe of His mercy and generosity—not only in His choosing to, but in His being able to penetrate the shell of my nature and to open my mind to comprehend His purpose, His law, and His love. The time before Passover is often particularly rich in this. I recognize this as something that all of His children experience. The Holy Day cycle is so much bigger than mere events on a calendar.
I know that there are people who appear very good and operate effectively having “a law unto themselves.” Gods way is not an imposition; it makes sense. Yet, for myself, that does not mean that they exemplify the workings of the Holy Spirit. God manifests His strength in our weaknesses, and making an assessment of the impact of His Spirit on their lives can be very difficult. We do not know their starting point, what they have dealt with in their lives, and how much they have grown. Although one’s actions can be observed, God is working internally in each of us and the results are between God and the individual.—JM
Dear Mr. Coulter: I just wanted to drop you a note and say thank you for your promptness in sending the anointed cloth at my request. It arrived quickly and I was healed and nearly back to health prior to the Passover and Unleavened Bread. I have enclosed a tithe and offering for the Spring Holy Days—which is never enough, considering God’s mercies.
I am ever so grateful for all of the wonderful literature we have received, along with the CDs and ability to access the web. I am so blessed to be involved, even if in a small way, and know how wonderful it is that these offerings are actually helping to put God’s truth out there and helping brethren who have been searching for years. I must tell you a funny story—true as well. I ran into an old high school classmate about two years ago and I gave him The Holy Bible In Its Original Order because he seemed interested in the Jewish Holy Days versus the traditional holidays. He told me he had been doing research on his own. Well, long story short, he called me the other day—after not hearing from him in over a year—and thanked me over and over again for giving him the Bible. He told me he had been studying and had questions. I told him I would be happy to meet with him again, of course. I told him about your websites, too. I was so thrilled about this I wanted to share it with you. I will keep you updated on his progress.

Dear Fred: Thank you for your reply. My question regarding the Torah was due to my best friend of over 65 years telling me that we insult God and Jesus when we don’t use the names Yahweh and Yeshua and so forth. He seems to think we need to go back to our Hebraic speaking in order to rightfully honor God. He even discounts the Bible most of the time because he feels there has been too many errors made in its manuscripts and printings. Our differences have created a huge rift in our friendship; he kept sending me more and more “Torah believer’s” information, so I finally had to ask him to stop.
I’ve been following your ministry. I’m the “unhappy church shopper” you speak of—who is tired of lies and traditions pressed on people that have nothing to do with the Bible.
Thank you for your ministry. As I watch your messages, I have considered using your ministry in a Senior Center in my town. I still attend a Wednesday Bible study here, but the doctrines grow old when pastors try to justify their congregational policies by cherry-picking the Bible. I sit there discontented, and they frown when I question their teachings. One pastor was rude to me when I asked a question that she couldn’t answer.
I’m so thankful God led me to your ministry. It’s as the saying goes, “once bitten, twice shy”—only multiply that by about ten. I have been duped so many times by false doctrines—and even by friends.
Sadly, my search for the truth has cost me in regards to family and friends—because they do not wish to hear it anymore. So I walk with God and He walks with me; and He talks with me and tells me I am His own. And that comforts me when nothing else will. Bless you and keep up your ministry. Hi Fred: Amazing! I had completely missed the connection with Grabbe and Kuhn being with Worldwide. Their paper is really hard to stomach after reading The Christian Passover. They make assumptions and connections to traditions, shifting the focus of the NTBMO, while saying the entire time that nothing has changed except our understanding. When you share this paper in this way, you are telling people to put their guards down because nothing has changed. Then you start pushing the accuracy of traditional Jewish practice. That’s horrible. However, I can relate.
When I was at AC, I started gravitating toward any teacher who had been a former Jew. They seemed to have deeper connections to the Torah. The symbolism they shared from the Old Testament came alive at a new level. Over the years, I kept thinking that former Jews had the “secret sauce” that enlightened my understanding. But God was merciful and helped me see foundational problems. At one time I was completely enamored with the Karaite Jews. Several years ago, while I was traveling through Israel, I stayed with friends I’d gone to AC with. At that time, Kurt Hoyer was working in the American Embassy in Tel Aviv as the Assistant Chief Information Officer. He dealt with lots of information in the embassy. So I asked him about the Karaites. He rolled his eyes and said that some church members think that this group goes back hundreds of years. In the Grabbe and Kuhn paper, on page 25, they say the Karaite Jews go back to the 7th century. Kurt told me that the current Karaites are relatively new and don’t go back continuously over a thousand years. So he told me not to think that this group had insights that no one else had.
Neal’s book on Judaism finally hammered the coffin shut on my being enamored by Jewish insights. Now I think that in many ways the Jews and their Jewish traditions have more baggage that is incorrect than even the Catholics (if that is possible). Jewish traditions go back to the Babylonian Captivity while the Catholics have had 700 less years of traditions. Although I do realize that the Catholics get lots of traditions from Nimrod and Semiramis.

Once you have those two under your belt, you’re ready for Galatians. I’m glad you are enjoying the series. With all the material we have with the CBCG, we have more true Bible teachings necessary for Christian growth and understanding than any Bible college or theology school. The reason is, we go by the Bible and let the Bible interpret the Bible—thus we have no human traditions interfering with the truth of God. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. Dear Fred: Rereading portions of The Christian Passover was moving. I went on my knees to God, especially on the sections about Christ’s body and blood. That section, and the whole scenario of Christ’s suffering, is “gold”—not to mention the thorough details of why the true Passover is on the 14th! You are the only minister I know of who has produced an archive of such treasures from years and years of feeding the flock and combating heresy. Thank you for such dedication, and I thank God.
Also, I loved the sermon from 04/27/19 on the difference between temptation and persecution. I am a bit confused about the “hour of trial” (Rev. 3:10) and how it relates to how many of the seals are before the 1260 days of protection. Would you mind elaborating further in another sermon? I am reading Psalm 119 at the moment, and I write down all the words that say how David feels about God. It is amazing how many words the man knew to describe how he felt.
I had a difficult Passover. Satan is really after me; the power went off three times during the ceremony. My wife helped with the foot washing. I did the rest by lamp and candlelight.
I am in my 77th year and I can tell I am going downhill. I really need the prayers of my brothers and sisters. You have heard of tripping over your shadow? I have really done that—ha! When my eyes burn from pollen and dust, I get out my guitar and sing “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The tears wash it all out! Love always.—W
Dear Fred: Oh my, I just watched the video on abortion. It was so disturbing and so gut-wrenching. I want to share this with the world. Also, there is witchcraft in the entertainment business. I wrote to you before about Taylor Swift’s tour. It is absolutely demonic. No hiding it! I am in the jewelry business and I would say 98% of them are into outright paganism and witchcraft. I’m feeling oppressed in my own home! I’m so glad I don’t have to work outside the home. It would be so awful!

We have teenagers in our group who don’t know why we don’t eat unclean meat, don’t worship idols, and other basic things. They have not been taught. It boggles the mind! Hi Fred: I was a brand new babe in Christ in 1980. I had done six months of intensive study on my own before contacting a minister, Mr. Smith, from San Diego. But I was amazed at the chaos and shocked at the limited truth. I considered quitting, but I had just begun. Very confusing. Often a big waste of time. I was frightened to leave, and back then I didn’t have a computer. What if I lost contact with the truth forever? What a mess. Thankfully, I’m still here. And I am so grateful for the study transcripts and CDs. Also delighted to be away from a hierarchical government, accredited college thinking, and two-faced people. I don’t want to waste one minute of a life of building a relationship with our Father or learning about our family. I love His Word. There’s endless depth in it.
