A lot of people did not want to hear Jesus, and others did not want to believe Him. Satan stirred up the people and they killed Jesus by beating Him, whipping Him and nailing Him to a big timber post made into a cross. Finally, a soldier thrust a spear under His rib to make certain He was dead.
At that time a great darkness came over the earth. When Jesus died, a thick curtain in the Temple was ripped from top to bottom. The earth shook and rocks split open. A very frightened soldier said, “Truly, this was the Son of God.”
Joseph of Arimathaea came and took Jesus' body down from the post, put ointment on it and wrapped it in cloth. He then put Jesus' body in a tomb and rolled a round stone in the doorway.
